SOTA Student Government Association’s
First Generation Scholarship
Receiving a college education is a very important step to help secure and enhance one’s future. Student Government Association has created a “First Generation Scholarship”. In order to qualify as a first generation student you must be the first in your immediate family to have attended college. As representatives of SOTA’s student body we would like to promote students who are taking this next step in their education. It is our hope that this scholarship will help a student to bridge any financial need necessary to take this step.
Requirements
Must be the first person from their immediate family to attend college
Must be enrolled full-time in college in the fall of 2017.
Must have a 3.0 un-weighted GPA or better
Must submit an official copy of their high school transcript
Must include a resume
Must have ONE letter of recommendation
Must submit an essay answering one of the following questions
Essay Questions (250 – 300 words)
What experiences in your life have inspired you to further your education?
Or
How do you believe a college education will help you reach your future goals?
*Completed applications must be submitted to Mr. Murphy by May 12, 2017. The Scholarship winner will receive a check for $300.00 at the awards ceremony at SOTA on June 6, 2017
